This week marks a milestone — not just for Alotta, but for the future of sustainable aquaculture.
In close collaboration with Mowi Chile, AKVA group, and Fjord Maritime, we’ve launched Chile’s first-ever floating solar energy system, powered by our high-performing Alotta Circle.

Installed at Mowi’s salmon farming site at Isla Huar in the Los Lagos region, this project represents a real, operational shift away from diesel — replacing it with renewable energy that’s clean, quiet, and built to last.

An Energy System with Real Impact

This hybrid energy solution generates solar power directly on the surface of the sea, with integrated battery storage that ensures round-the-clock operation. Approximately 50% of the site’s energy needs will now be covered by clean energy, reducing both emissions and the need for fuel-supply boat trips.

In this short film, you’ll hear directly from the people who made it happen — Mowi Chile, AKVA group, Alotta, and Fjord Maritime — as they reflect on the journey, the challenges, and the shared ambition to make aquaculture cleaner and more sustainable.

Clean Energy Sales

This project is more than a technology delivery — it’s part of a long-term partnership.
Through Alotta Energy Chile, we provide energy sales: Mowi Chile purchases green kilowatt-hours directly from us, rather than investing in and operating the infrastructure themselves.

It’s a simple, scalable model:
In partnership with AKVA Goup Chile, we install, own, and maintain the floating solar system — and the customer gets predictable, affordable, renewable energy from day one. This approach removes complexity for the fish farmer while accelerating the transition away from diesel.

“This is a moment of deep pride. The Alotta Circle is no longer just a Norwegian solution — it’s now part of Chile’s clean energy future. We’ve delivered a robust, proven system that’s ready to replace diesel, even in demanding offshore conditions. And today, it's real - it works in places where diesel used to rule. Thank you to everyone who’s helped bring this to life. Let’s keep turning sunlight into impact.”

A Shared Vision — Built on Strong Partnerships

All made possible through the close collaboration of four Norwegian-rooted companies:

  • Mowi Chile, the customer and sustainability front-runner
  • AKVA group, responsible for cage infrastructure, integration, operations & maintenance
  • Fjord Maritime, delivering energy storage
  • Alotta, responsible for the floating solar energy system and the supply of renewable energy through our Chilean subsidiary

It’s also the result of on-the-ground presence, long-term commitment, and trust between people.

“Seeing the Alotta Circle float in Chile is incredibly rewarding. I’ve met outstanding people and companies here — all eager to move aquaculture in a greener direction. This is just the beginning.”

Rooted in Trust — Ready to Grow

From the fjords of Norway to the coastline of Patagonia, floating solar is no longer a vision — with the Alotta Circle now in operation across continents, we’re one step closer to a global shift in how remote industries like aquaculture power their operations.

We are honored to have Mowi Chile as our first customer in Latin America — and grateful for the trust, teamwork, and shared ambition that made this project a reality.

Because clean energy isn’t just about power — it’s about people, places, and the planet we share.
